The most famous hotel in Tarifa is Hotel Hurricane. Set in stunning sub-tropical gardens, with steps leading down to the Atlantic shore.

The Hurricane Hotel is an idyllic setting for a sun and beach holiday (weekend) with some action thrown in. With a strong African influence from just across the water (14km), it is Moorish in design, with a profusion of arches and water features, Casablanca style ceiling fans and cane furniture.

The hurricane hotel

The Hurricane hotel is situated just beyond Tarifa at the southernmost point of Europe. Famed for windsurfing and kitesurfing, the weather conditions are ideal for both wind and kite surfers most of the time.  You can take courses or rent all the equipment at the hotel`s ION watersports centre.  The hotel sports centre has a fully equipped gym, yoga classes, heated pool and sauna.  You can go horseback riding or just laze by one of the pools.

The rooms are charming and uncluttered with tiled floors, nice furnishing and ceiling fans. Each has a bathroom en suite. There are also three family rooms and two luxury suites with large living room, open fireplace and sea views. Buffet breakfast is provided. There is the famous beach bar for lunch with magnificent views and a restaurant for dinner, providing high quality cuisine with home grown vegetables, fresh pasta and locally caught fresh fish. Don’t be surprised if you see a hollywood star walking by with their kite gear.

There is a lively international atmosphere here, informal, relaxed and enthusiastic, and if you want a change of scenery, cross the road, there is the lovely countryside all around for walking (buddha trail), mountain biking or bird watching.

The same owners of the Hurricane own the famous lively beach club Tumbao at Valdevaqueros, easy to reach by beach.
