The 2027 total solar eclipse in Tarifa
The eclipse takes place on Monday, 2 August 2027, during the morning. In Tarifa, the partial eclipse begins at around 09:40, with totality arriving at approximately 10:45–10:50. Maximum eclipse is around 10:47.
At the moment of totality, the Moon completely covers the visible disc of the Sun. The sky darkens, the light changes and the Sun’s corona becomes visible around the Moon.
The Sun will be around 38° above the horizon, making this a relatively comfortable position for viewing compared with an eclipse close to the horizon.

Solar eclipse safety: protect your eyes
Never look directly at the Sun without proper solar viewing protection.
Ordinary sunglasses are not safe for looking at the Sun during a partial eclipse. Use suitable, certified solar eclipse glasses or another approved solar-viewing method and follow established eclipse safety guidance.
The only brief period during totality when direct viewing may be possible is when the Sun is completely covered by the Moon. The moment totality ends, proper eye protection is required again.
